THE River Roding remains on flood watch this morning as rain continues to fall across the borough, with more heavy showers forecast for tomorrow.

A warning was issued yesterday by the Environment Agency following recent downpours, placing the river and its catchment area on red alert.

The river’s tributaries in the Loughton and Chipping Ongar areas have not been issued with warnings.

Residents living in the Cripsey Brook area have been advised to take precautions to protect their homes as river levels rise.

The Environment Agency has begun de-silting Winn Brook, Woodford Green, which is a tributary of the Roding, in a bid to reduce the risk of damage to nearby homes.

The flood warning is expected to remain in place throughout the weekend and into Monday.
