A MAORI scheme to help vulnerable children stay out of the care system is being tried out in Waltham Forest.
Children's charity NCH and the council are working together to hold family group conferencing sessions to keep children with their families.
The sessions, first piloted in New Zealand, are held with close-knit family members and social service staff to focus on the needs of the child. Conferences will run for the next 18 months.
