A NEW Government initiative will see the most prolific offenders targeted by police and criminal justice agencies.

Redbridge's Crime and Disorder Partnerships will specifically focus on repeat offenders to not only catch them but stop them re-offending in the future.

The new scheme will implement intensive programmes to steer offenders away from crime by keeping them under close supervision.

MP for Leyton and Wanstead Harry Cohen said: "This initiative will allow the police to truly tackle crime problems in Leyton and Wanstead and help to build a more sustainable community."
