ILFORD North MP Linda Perham has been re-elected as chairwoman of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Crossrail.
Delighted about the re-election, she said: "This project would benefit London greatly. Our group now consists of over 100 MPs and peers, and it is now our intention to firm up support from members outside London to give the bill every chance of passing through the Parliamentary procedure as swiftly as possible."
The project, which will provide a train link from west to east incorporating Ilford, continues to gain momentum with broad cross-party support and she hopes that a hybrid Crossrail Bill will be ready for presentation by March 2005.
