STUDENTS can learn the skills they will need to work at Stansted Airport with a new seven-day programme at Harlow College financed by the European Social Fund.
The airport skills pre-employment award, developed by the college in partnership with airport operator BAA Stansted and other businesses at the airport, offers learners a chance to find out who works there and what they do, passenger service, basic safety and security training, basic customer service training, personal development and skills for life.
Anyone enrolled on the programme will be able to go on a half-day tour of the airport, observing various roles and will be guaranteed a job interview.
Harlow College's training services director Sue Young said: "We want to ensure that people in Harlow and west Essex have the opportunity to learn more about career opportunities at the airport and are well prepared to secure permanent employment at Stansted."
Potential learners should be aged between 18 and 25, must be able to supply a five-year education or employment history and hold either a current passport or photo driving license in order to receive an airport pass. Some places may be available for those aged over 25.
