FORMER EastEnder and Heartbeat star Nick Berry officially opened the newly refurbished Epping Tennis Club.
More than 200 people attended the Play Tennis Open Day on Sunday, which unveiled two resurfaced courts, new floodlights and a refurbished clubhouse with improved disabled access.
The Lower Bury Lane club raised over £50,000 to improve aging facilities, funded through myriad grants from local organisations including the Jack Petchey Foundation, Grange Farm Trust, Epping Rotary Club, Epping Town Council and Epping Forest District Council.
Senior committee member Mike Perry described the open day as a complete success.
He said: "It was a wonderful day and the enthusiasm of the members was pleasing to see.
"The opening of our new courts will, I'm sure, see the club go from strength to strength and this is being borne out by the new members joining on the day."
