AN event is being held in Walthamstow to mark Workers Memorial Day.
Every year, trade unions worldwide remember those workers who have died, been injured or disabled while carrying out their work and raise awareness of workers' rights to carry out their work in a safe environment.
On Wednesday, April 28, representatives from the borough's trade unions, council and others will gather at the Town Hall in Forest Road, where the national flag will be flying at half mast in memory of those who have died.
A plaque and plant will be unveiled at 10am and at 1pm, wreaths will be laid and speeches heard.
Anyone is welcome to attend and should arrive before 1pm for the start of the ceremony.
For more information, contact the council's joint unions health and safety convenor, Su Manning, on 8496 4479 or by emailing: su@unison-wf.fsnet.co.uk
