A FIVE-A-SIDE football tournament helped to raise nearly £3,000 for cancer research.
The charity tournament, at Power League, in Forest Road, Hainault, saw 22 teams competing for a £50 prize.
Winning team, the Misco All Stars, generously handed the money back towards the overall total raised which was £2,937.
The money will go to the charity Development of Pancreatic Cancer Research, which hopes to raise greater awareness of that potentially terminal strain of cancer.
Charity chairwoman Carly Hand said: “It was a fantastic day and everyone was pleased with the amount raised. The winning team did very well because they had never played together before “We are aiming to raise more money for early detection of pancreatic cancer because if detected early the damage can be limited.”
Anyone wishing to support funding for pancreatic cancer research can call Carly on 020 8514 0086 or 07795 373813 or e-mail carly@dpcr.org.
