A 43-year-old has been charged with the murder of a homeless man and the attempted murder of two others.

Pardeep Singh, of Town Road in Edmonton, was seized by police after the three attacks last week.

Police were first called to Ilford High Road at 1am last Thursday (September 9) to reports that a 58-year-old man had been hurt.

He was rushed to hospital with serious head injuries.

Later that day at 3.30pm police were called again to reports of another wounded man near Buckingham Road Cemetery.

The 42-year-old they found at the scene was also suffering from serious head injuries and was taken to hospital.

Officers then conducted a search of the area and discovered the body of a third man close to the cemetery at 8pm.

The man, believed to be 31-years-old, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He is still to be formally identified, but a post-mortem gave the cause of death as a blunt trauma to the head and neck.

The other two victims are in a serious but stable condition.

An incident room has opened at Barking Police Station under DCI John Macdonald (HSCC).

DCI Macdonald said: "I believe that all three men were attacked between 11pm and midnight on Wednesday evening while they were together near to the Buckingham Road Cemetery.

"All three were rough sleepers who frequently slept in a car park adjacent to business premises off Clark's Road near to Ilford High Road.

"I need to hear from anyone who saw or heard a disturbance in or around Clark's Road and the Buckingham Road Cemetery late on Wednesday (September 8) or in the early hours of Thursday (September 9) morning."
