A WALTHAMSTOW residents' group is to hold an emergency meeting to discuss their next steps over a development in Walthamstow Central Station's car park.

Solum Regeneration has submitted revised plans for a £15 million scheme in part of the station's car park, which includes a 12-storey block of flats, a hotel and five new shops.

But the proposals have been criticised by residents living nearby who have called on the council to insist on a better design.

Priory Avenue Residents' Association (PARA) and Cedars Avenue Residents' Association (CARA) have joined forces to fight the proposals.

PARA will be holding a campaign meeting on October 12 and invited local councillors to hear their concerns.

PARA's Terry Walters said in an email to councillors: "How many times must residents have to say NO to high-rise intrusions?

"Two previous plans locally were rejected, so the precedent is already in place. Residents and local businesses don't want this sort of development.

"It is totally out of character with the local environment, and would... change the face of Walthamstow for the worst. It is totally unnecessary."
