IN July 2010, 60 students and six staff embarked on a journey to Glasbury, south Wales.

Pouring rain, no mobile signal and beautiful countryside everywhere. Throw in some great activities and you end up with the best holiday a 13-year-old could ask for.

Lots of photographs were taken and many more thoughts were rushing through their minds.

After six long hours (and some fast-food at the services) they were finally there.

When they arrived, there was no holding back on activities. It was dinner and straight out. Little did they know that this was just a warm-up exercise for the rest of the week.

Monday morning, they were up bright and early. What had been planned for this week? Caving, kayaking, mountain walking, walking under waterfalls and an adventure day was what they were up against.

Who needs water parks when you have mother nature’s answer in the beautiful Brecon Beacons?

Another day and kayaking it is – but with half the group capsized and the other half screaming their way down rapids it was up to the instructor to manoeuvre them all to safety. Adventure day, get your own back!
