A NURSE from Theydon Bois has been struck off after a tribunal.
Caroline Lowe, 53, of Elizabeth Drive, was charged with misconduct and being unfit to practice after the death of 60-year-old Derek Sauter at Queen Mary's Hospital, Kent, in 2008.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council decided today (Thursday) to ban her from returning to nursing.
The council ruled yesterday that Ms Lowe failed to respect the dignity of Mr Sauter and left him to die alone, but added that her actions did not contribute to his death.
Mr Sauter's daughter, Ruth Sauter, of Grays, Essex, said his family was relieved at the outcome.
“It's been very hard on the family to know the circumstances in which my father died,” she added. “We wouldn't wish that on anybody and it's the right decision.”
