WATER is gushing out of a leak at a busy junction, with repair work to fix it causing chaos for traffic in the already congested area.

A burst main at the junction of The Broadway and and Charteris Road in Woodford Green has been flooding part of road since last Wednesday (September 22).

Colin Emden, of Malvern Drive, reported the leak to Thames Water on the day it started and has called them repeatedly since.

Mr Emden said: “The day after it started they sent some contractors with a JCB down and they dug up the surface of the road but didn't fix it.

“They've put all barriers round and put in alternating red lights, which is causing havoc.

“I called them up again the next day and they said they would definitely come that night, but they never did a bean.

“Each time I've called them it's taken them five minutes to find the leak on their system.”

The Guardian has contacted Thames Water for a comment.
