FOOTPATH TO FILMMAKING

Could your child be the next Steven Spielberg or George Lucas? A five day course gives 8 to 12 year olds the chance to get hands on training in all aspects of filmmaking.

The young ones will get the chance to shoot, direct, edit and star in their own short film using professional equipment under the guidance of seasoned filmmakers.

THE LITTLE MERMAID

Far below the ocean’s crashing waves is where this magical tale of love and adventure begins. An enchanting journey with the curious Little Mermaid who longs to explore the world above the sea and meet the people that live there. Written by celebrated children’s author Mike Kenny and based on Hans Christian Andersen’s original story.

This classic fairytale comes to life with imaginative staging, captivating story telling and original music for children aged 4 to 8. There are drama workshops immediately after each performance for children to play fun drama games and learn more about being on stage.

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

An enchanting production just perfect for the Easter holidays starring Jonathan Ansell from the X Factor's G4, Melissa Suffield (Lucy Beale in Eastenders), Danielle McCormack (Mel Barker in CITV's My Parents Are Aliens) and Jonny Freeman (Frank London in CBBC's M.I High).

MAKE 'EM LAUGH

Let your little ones learn comic improvisation and how to create funny sketches on stage. This three day course will teach children all about making people laugh, leading up to a performance on the last day that will have the audience in stitches. Early booking is recommended.

WALLY WATTHEAD AND HIS LOST GLOW

Helsinki's legendary magician Janne Raudowski comes to The Broadway, Barking this Easter with his completely madcap show.

Welcome to the bizarre, over-sized world of Polly's bedside table, home to her mobile phone, a picture and the Lilliputian Wally Watthead. When the light on his head goes out he must search for his lost glow, so beginning a surreal journey full of laughter and awe.

Combining magic, clowning, mime, black light theatre and video, the production breaks new ground with its unique use of technology and is a powerful experience for children and adults alike.

EGGCITING ADVENTURES IN WALTHAMSTOW

A full schedule of fun Easter activities awaits visitors to Walthamstow Toy Library this month. Suitable for babies to 5-year-olds the excitement includes making pizza and chocolate nests, egg hunts, Miss Miranda's music time, story telling with Mr Squash, planting and digging, messy play and Easter bunnies.

THE FABULOUS FLUTTERBYS

Leading puppetry company, The Little Angel Theatre visit Jacksons Lane this weekend with a captivating tale of two very different caterpillars.

Follow Hamish and Grace on a dangerous journey as they search for their missing friend. They encounter a host of fascinating critters including blues-singing Slow Worm Joe, a patch of mean strawberries and Adam and his army of marching ants.

The brand new production features a live band, music by jazz legend Barb Jungr and covers themes of threatened ecology, recycled materials and metamorphosis. Suitable for ages three and above.

EASTER SHED

Kids can create their very own original show in a week-long workshop at Chickenshed this Easter break. Beginning on Monday morning, participants will create a story, rehearse the script and practice dances each day, working towards a performance on Friday afternoon.

Suitable for anyone between the ages of six and 12, Easter Shed is delivered by Chickenshed's ever-energetic performers. All are welcome regardless of experience.

The workshop runs from 10am to 4pm each day. Places are limited so booking is essential.

EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA

Celebrate the best thing about easter with a range of egg-related workshops at the Bruce Castle Museum.

On April 10 mark the start of the break by making a top hat or bonnet. On April 13 children can learn about the much-desired Faberge egg and have a go at making their own with shiny paper and jewels. The following day, young ones can create their very own Easter chick plus a nest for them to sit in while on April 15 visitors can boil an egg and decorate it just like Humpty Dumpty.

LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD A modern mix-up of fantastic fairytales and colourful characters takes place at Lauderdale House this weekend with this Booster Cushion Theatre Company production.

Aimed at ages 3 to 8, the show brings books to life with the help of audience participation and mime. Our hooded hero meets the Pop Star Cinderella and even a Vegetarian Wolf. Ideal for anyone with an appetite for fun.
