FORMER members of a club which was established in 1908 to help keep youths off the streets of Walthamstow held a grand reunion this week.

Friends from the League of Three (LOT) group, which disbanded in the 1980s after decades of community work, held the gathering at the Trinity URC Church Hall in Orford Road on Saturday (August 20).

Around 20 former members from the 1950s and 1960s attended, including nine ex-players from its 1962 football team.

For many it was the first time in 50 years they had seen each other.

As well as providing sports and cultural activities the club had a strong Christian ethos, with attendance at a Sunday service being a condition of membership.

The group eventually disbanded due to declining numbers, but was so popular it had a waiting list at its peak.

Any former LOT members who would like keep in touch are invited to contact reunion organiser Peter Arnold on 0208 5217 931.
