A FIRE that tore through a house on Monday is believed to have been started deliberately.

On Monday, September 26, after being called at about 1.52pm, fire fighters battled for an hour to extinguish a blaze in a semi-detached house in Pancroft, Abridge.

The resident, who is believed to be a 62-year-old man, was not in the house at the time of the fire.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) believes that the fire was started deliberately and are currently investigating the incident together with Essex Police.

An ECFRS spokeswoman said: “After conducting a search of the property fire officers concluded that it was a case of deliberate ignition.”
