HOME composting bins are being sold by Essex County Council in a bid to encourage recycling.
Garden waste as well as household rubbish such as teabags and eggshells can be put in the bins where it will turn in to compost which can be used for fertilising the soil in gardens.
Essex County Councillor Kevin Bentley, Cabinet Member for Waste and Recycling said: “I’m urging Essex residents to start home composting as it helps reduce the amount of waste that gets sent to landfill.
"It’s so easy to do, and with autumn now upon us it is the perfect time to get started.”
The bins, which are being sold for £15, can be purchased on the Recycle for Essex website at http://microsites.essexcc.gov.uk/microsites/RecycleForEssex/
