THE CHAIRWOMAN of Redbridge Chamber of Commerce has died suddenly at the age of 74.

Julie Woodward was on holiday in her native Ireland with her husband Ray when she was taken ill. She died on Friday (October 14).

Co-chair of the Chamber of Commerce, Geoff Hill, said: “For many years it was the energy of Julie that kept the Chamber in Redbridge going.

"She encouraged, cajoled and guided the executive committee to work together to put Redbridge business at the fore of local agendas.”

“Julie was a positive and caring person who helped and supported local charities, such as Business Education Partnership, which works with local young people, and Victim Support.

“Not only will Julie be missed by the Chamber of Commerce, but her calm, positive influence will be a sore loss across the whole of Redbridge and in other organisations across London.

“My thoughts are very much with her family at this time, especially her husband Ray, who she was married to for 53 years.”

Mrs Woodward’s funeral will be held in Ireland, but Mr Hill confirmed there will be a memorial service in Ilford at a later date.
