MORE volunteers are needed to help search for missing people.
Search Dogs Essex, which trains pets to find missing people, is looking for a support worker, a dog handler and volunteers to help with training exercises in Epping Forest, Hainault and Hertfordshire.
Karin Jung, a dog handler for the group, said: “To get involved is a true time commitment. It’s not for the faint-hearted.
“First aid qualifications are provided via Essex Search and Rescue and there are other qualifications, like water safety, that people can gain.
“This year, we have had 50 call-outs for Essex. About 90 per cent of people are found alive and well, but even for those who are not found alive, at least it’s closure for their family.”
Anyone interested in volunteering for the Harlow-based group can email info@searchdogsessex.org.uk or call 07947 433479.
