AFTER nine days and 119 events, organisers of this year's Woodford Festival have declared it a roaring success.

This year’s programme was the biggest and most varied yet, with everything from opera to cider making available.

Music lovers were particularly well catered for with jazz, folk and classical music concerts taking place at a host of venues across the area.

The festival wrapped up on Sunday night with a jazz concert at the Woodford Wells club at which the Mayor, Mayoress and Deputy Mayor were all spotted on the dance floor.

Ron Wortley-Millek organised the festival with his wife Anny.

He said: “After a very busy nine days, we are both absolutely exhausted, but it has all been worth it.

“Considering the economic climate, it was gratifying to see just how many people came out to enjoy themselves and support the festival.

“We estimate thousands of people attended events.”

Mr Wortley-Millek says planning for next year’s event will begin soon.

He explained: “We’ll sit down and talk in November.

“Nothing has been decided yet, but my feeling is that we will want to have another festival.

“For now though, we’d just like to extend a great big thank you to everyone who got involved.

“They all put on a blooming great show!”
