POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a suspected arson attack in Leyton.
It comes after a house was set on fire in Capworth Street at around 1am on Saturday September 17, although details have only been released today.
When fire-fighters arrived at the scene they rescued a 67-year-old man who was inside but unhurt.
A 55-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been bailed until November.
A Met spokesman said officers were very keen for witnesses to come forward.
He added: "Capworth Street is generally a busy road so there may have been many people who could have seen what happened."
Witnesses are urged to call detective constable Rebecca Woodsford on 0203 276 0935.
To remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
