PUPILS at two schools were kept behind at the end of the day after a fight in the street outside.
Staff at Walthamstow Academy Secondary and Roger Ascham Primary in Billet Road, Walthamstow, told children to stay indoors as a precaution after the incident on Tuesday afternoon (December 13).
Police say they were called to the street at just after 3pm to reports of men fighting.
When officers arrived they discovered a van window had been smashed with a brick, but those involved had already fled.
No arrests have been made and there have been no reports of any injuries.
It is understood that the suspects have nothing to do with either school.
Police say they did not advise schools to keep children behind, but did warn them about the alleged fight.
Pupils were kept behind for an extra half an hour before being allowed to leave.
A Met spokesman said officers were continuing to investigate what happened.
