TORY councillor, Alex Wilson, says he is still a true blue, despite holding up a leaflet which appeared to back Labour Mayoral candidate Ken Livingstone.
Cllr Wilson joined Conservative GLA member Roger Evans and fellow Wanstead and Snaresbrook councillors Sue Nolan and Thomas Chan on Wanstead High Street to hand out leaflets backing Boris Johnson.
But during the weekend photocall, Cllr Wilson inadvertently held his leaflet the wrong way round, appearing to go off message in the process.
Speaking to the Guardian, Cllr Wilson said: “Oh dear.
“The picture of Ken Livingstone was printed on the back of the leaflet.
“Of course I have not switched sides, I’m still backing Boris all the way.”
Londoners will get their chance to vote in the Mayoral elections on May 3.
