THE annual Wanstead Festival will aim to capture the Olympics feelgood factor.

The all-day event on Christchurch Green, Wanstead, has been organised to coincide with the Olympic closing ceremony.

Families are encouraged to bring a picnic along and join in with the Olympic celebrations.

Highlights of the day will include live music, plenty of stalls, a cycling showcase and family activities.

Redbridge council's Vision will also be there with their Olympic-themed Inspiration Roadshow.

Also with a stall at the festival is the Wanstead Society.

Geoff Horsnell, of the Wanstead Society, said: "It is quite a fun time, there will be plenty for people to do at the festival."

Showing at the Corner House, in the High Street, will be a selection of artwork produced by members of Art Group Wanstead.

Artwork will also be shown on the fence of Christchurch Green.

The festival has been funded with £10,000 from the Area One Committee.

The day will run from 11am to 5pm.
