Young people in Waltham Forest will have the chance to get involved in a three day youth celebration in Leytonstone which will be attended by the borough’s Mayor.

The Youth Spectacular weekend kicks off on August 9 and will feature arts, sports and drama workshops for all attendees.

On August 11, the final day of the celebrations, a talent show will be held at Leytonstone Library in Church Lane, Leytonstone.

Acts are being invited to enter the talent show and the winner will win the top prize of £100 worth of vouchers. The guest of honour, Mayor Richard Sweden, will be one of the judges in the panel.

The Youth Spectacular weekend is being organised by young people in conjunction with the ‘Emplay’ project being run by Leytonstone Youth Café Community Initiative.

Emplay is an interactive course teaching young people aged 13-19 about project management, giving them hands-on experience of planning and managing Leytonstone Youth Celebration 2012, with the hope that young people can apply these skills to real business situations.

Audience tickets for the talent show cost £2 and can be bought by emailing spectacular.youthcafe@gmail.com. A full timetable of events is also available via email.
