THE vice-president of national organisation Wheelpower will give a talk on the first ever Wheelchair Games.
Eva Loeffler OBE volunteered at the first ever Wheelchair Games in 1948 in Stoke Mandeville, after her Jewish family had fled Germany.
Her father, Sir Ludwig Guttmann, was a leading German surgeon who believed sport was vital to injured soldiers recovery.
He organised the first Wheelchair Games after working in Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Stoke Mandeville is now thought of as being the birthplace of the modern Paralympic Games.
She will give the talk at Valentines Mansion, in Emerson Road, Ilford on August 19.
