AROUND 25 people were evacuated from flats above a designer clothes shop when it caught fire in the early hours of this morning.
About half of the ground floor of the store, in Barkingside High Street, was damaged in the blaze after it broke out at around 1.10am Saturday (August 11).
Fire-fighters brought it under control just before 5am.
Station Manager Glen Blah, from Kentish Town fire station, attended the scene.
He said: "Around twenty five people were evacuated from the flats above the shop by the police before firefighters got to the scene. We’ve not had any reports of any members of the public being injured."
Residents in the flats are being looked after by Redbridge Council.
Crews from stations across east London, including Woodford, Walthamstow, Chingford and Leytonstone, attended.
An investigation has been launched into the cause of the blaze.
