Brits go meer-scatty for Joel Corry's new tune - after DJ transforms beloved 'simples' catchphrase into the song of the summer

Eagle-eared Brits have gone mad for Joel Corry’s new tune after spotting beloved ‘simples’ catchphrase in what could be the song of the summer.

Joel Corry has transformed the famous line into a high-energy dance track featuring grime star Scrufizzer – and fans can’t quite believe it.

The track first surfaced during Corry’s Ibiza set before clips of the crowd’s reaction were shared online on Instagram via (@imjustbait).

Since appearing online, clips featuring the track have racked up more than 1.4 million views while fans have shared reaction videos, memes, and dance clips inspired by the song.

In the clips, festival-goers can be seen chanting along to the famous slogan before the track drops into a bass-heavy dance anthem.

Many were left shocked that the iconic meerkat catchphrase had somehow become a festival-ready banger.

One fan wrote: ‘takes me back to the 00’s’

Another said: ‘ No sorry why is this actually so good??’

A third joked: ‘The collab we never knew we needed’

Someone else added: ‘ Joel Corry is King of Summer Bangers’

Others admitted they initially thought the remix was a joke before realising it was an official collaboration.

What initially seemed like a bizarre internet stunt is actually a new collaboration between Joel Corry, Compare the Market and grime MC Scrufizzer.

The track, SIMPLES ft. Scrufizzer (Joel Corry Remix), reimagines the famous catchphrase as a high-energy UK funky house-inspired anthem.

Corry, whose previous hits include Head & Heart, BED and Sorry, told JamPress he immediately saw the potential in turning one of Britain’s best-known slogans into a dancefloor hit.

He said: “I remember seeing the iconic Meerkats adverts on TV and the ‘simples’ catchphrase became a part of British culture.”

The producer said he wanted the song to tap into the nostalgia surrounding both the adverts and the resurgence of early-2010s dance music.

Corry added: “I wanted to make this a fun remix that would sound big in the club while also tapping into the nostalgia of music from the time the Meerkats first appeared on screens.

“UK rapper Scrufizzer teamed up with me to lay down some bars in the booth.”

The DJ revealed he has already been testing the track at some of his biggest live shows.

He said: “I’ve been playing the SIMPLES remix in my summer festival sets and in Ibiza. The reaction has been incredible and I’m glad people are having fun with it.”

The producer teamed up with Scrufizzer, known for collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Dizzee Rascal and JME, to bring fresh vocals to the track.

The remix has also sparked a dance trend online, with creators Cach Mercer, Lewis Leigh and Timi among those posting choreographed routines to the song.

Its release comes amid a wider resurgence of early-2010s dance music, with UK funky house making a comeback across clubs, festivals and social media.

While some listeners initially questioned how a famous insurance advert slogan could become a dancefloor anthem, many are already tipping it to become one of the summer’s most unexpected hits.
