One of the most promising athletes in the country has been awarded a full athletic scholarship in America.
Holly Pattie-Belleli, from Ongar, will continue her training, as well as academic studies, at Missouri State University.
The Woodford Green with Essex Ladies athlete is currently ranked the eighth best heptathlete in the country and 14th best at hurdles in the Under-20 age group.
The 18-year-old, who received a £1500 grant this year from Epping District Council, finished second in the English Schools heptathlon.
Coach Bob Corbett said: “Holly is the best technical hurdler I have trained. She had injuries and training problems when she was younger but she is now getting her rewards.
“Holly is very focused and determined and I’m sure she will do well.”
