Andre Villas-Boas’s decision to let Hugo Lloris continue to play after his collision with Romelu Lukaku risked his long term health, according to brain injury charity Headway.
Lloris was knocked unconscious in the latter stages at Goodison Park but confirmed he was fit to carry on and Villas-Boas decided against replacing him with deputy Brad Friedel.
Headway spokesperson Luke Griggs said: "When a player suffers a blow to the head that is severe enough for them to lose consciousness, it is vital they urgently seek appropriate medical attention.
"By continuing to play, the player may have caused greater damage to his brain."
