The FA confirmed that Leyton Orient's vice- captain Liam Kelly has been charged following their 3-2 victory on Tuesday night over Plymouth Argyle at Home Park.
It is alleged the committed an act of violent conduct in the 86th minute, when he pushed over a ballboy, which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video, contrary to Rule E3.
The FA have also submitted a claim that the standard punishment for this alleged offence would be clearly insufficient.
The 27-year-old has until 6pm tomorrow to respond to the charge.
Plymouth Argyle reported the incident to the FA yesterday after they checked video footage of the game.
