East London Boxing Academy rising star Zeeshan Ali is through to the national quarter finals after beating Shane Brown in Camberley.
Ali, who was crowned London champion last week, highlighted his natural talent by convincingly winning all three rounds during his bout against Brown in the pre quarter finals at the weekend.
That result means he will now face Eastern Counties champion Connor Dale from Peterborough Police in the national quarter finals in Basildon.
Ali will be joined in the quarter finals by Uzair Maqbool, who was handed a bye to the next round and East London club captain Jack Daly, who beat Danny Maslak from the PEJ boxing club after a strong performance.
Away from the pre quarter finals, three East London fighters were in action against boxers from Hastings Boxing Club in Romford at the weekend.
Paddy Joe Lawrence made up for Hamza Javed’s narrow defeat by beating Cameron Pooley to ensure the team competition was finely poised going into the final bout of the show.
The pressure was on Hamza Hajee Sahriff going into the final, but the 16-year-old didn’t look fazed and he claimed victory over Liam Holden following an excellent display to hand East London the bragging rights at the team tournament.
