Tottenham Hotspur’s Mousa Dembele is on the verge of completing a move to Chinese Super League club Beijing Guoan for a fee of around £11 million.
The move to Asia would likely see a dramatic increase to his reported £80,000-a-week wages.
The Belgium international has not made an appearance for Spurs since injuring his ankle against Wolves in November.
Dembele, who is not in the squad for the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea tonight, is out of contract in the summer and seems tempted by the slower pace of football in China after the number of injuries he has suffered in the past two years.
The 31-year-old may also be joined by Vincent Janssen, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, Fernando Llorente and Michel Vorm in leaving the club this window as Mauricio Pochettino looks to trim his squad, while also admitting that it will be difficult to sign players of sufficient quality mid-season.
