ARSENAL have had a reported offer of £9.5million turned down by Udinese for defender Christian Zapata.
According to Sky Sports, Arsene Wenger has identified the Colombian centre-half as the 'powerful defender' he is looking for, although the club's first offer is thought to fall some way below the Italians' valuation of the player.
Zapata, 21, has enjoyed three impressive seasons with Udinese and is rated as one of the best defensive talents in Europe.
With the likes of Juventus, AC and Inter Milan all said to be interested, Arsenal will have to come up with a more substantial offer to prise the defender out of the Stadio Friulli.
