Leyton Orient have confirmed the loan signing of goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann from Championship side Watford.
The 31-year-old – a full Austria international has played 12 times in the Premier League and 115 times in the Championship joins until the end of the season.
Orient have been struggling in the goalkeeper department thus season as first choice keeper Tommy Simkin was recalled from his loan by parent club Stoke City.
Orient Head Coach Richie Wellens said: “I’m really pleased to get Dan in. As I have said previously, we have needed to bring in another goalkeeper, and our recruitment team have worked hard for several weeks to find the right person.
“Dan became available to us 72 hours ago and I’m looking forward to working with him and the experience he will bring. As well as being a proven Championship ‘keeper, he will also help our younger goalkeepers, Killian and Noah, to develop.”
Bachmann joined Stoke City as a teenager and spent time on loan at Wrexham, Ross County and Bury before signing for Watford in 2017. He established himself as the Hornets’ number one in 2021 as they won promotion to the Premier League.
That summer, he was Austria’s first-choice stopper as they reached the knockout stages of the European Championships.
Bachmann said: “I’m really pleased to be joining the club and cannot wait to get started. As a goalkeeper, I am an organiser and like to be a voice in the changing room, which is really important in any team.
“I feel like I am coming into the prime years of my playing career and am looking forward to getting back playing and helping the club move up the table, whilst also supporting the GK Union here.”
