Leyton Orient have paid tribute to a former club community employee has passed away recently following a short illness.
Grant Cornwell MBE became the chief Executive of Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme in 2002 and was pioneering in developing the Football in the Community Scheme at Leyton Orient, alongside Neil Watson.
He stayed in this role for five years before going on to be Chief Executive of Tottenham Hotspur Foundation in 2007.
Grant, a former firefighter, was passionate about supporting young people and bringing out their talents.
As well as supporting matchday activity and leading on Junior O's programmes, he was intrinsic in setting up the Leyton Orient Advanced Soccer School, which developed hundreds of players and coaches and also led the Club's Centre of Excellence from 2004 to 2007.
He also initiated estate-based sports engagement programmes leading to the development of football teams and leagues that were replicated nationwide. He was later recognised in 2005 for his services with an MBE.
