Leyton Orient recorded successive league victories as they defeated Peterborough Utd 2-1 at home in League One.
Orient took the lead in the just before the breakthrough Jack Simpson’s and doubled their lead late in second half Tyreeq Bakinson. They conceded a late goal but hung on to pick a vital three points.
Orient head coach Richie Wellens made two changes from Tuesday’s 2-1 victory against Stevenage. Dylan Levitt and Will Forrester both returned to the starting line up as Orient returned to a back four formation.
It was the away side that started off well as Kyrell Lisbie right footed shot from outside the box was blocked following an assist by Carl Johnston two minutes in.
Ten minutes later Orient created their first chance of the game when Charlie Wellens left footed shot from the left side of the box was saved in the bottom right corner by Peterborough goalkeeper Alex Bass.
The O’s continued to come forward and missed another chance to take the lead Tom James left footed shot from the left side of the box went too high following a set piece delivery from Dom Ballard on 18 minutes.
Peterborough then started to get back into the game and were denied from taking the lead when David Kamara right footed shot from outside the box was saved in the top centre of the goal by Kaelan Casey on 25 minutes.
A few moments later Orient missed another chance to break the deadlock when Levitt’s right footed shot from outside the box went high and wide to the right on 33 minutes.
The home team continued their offence and Jack Simpson’s left footed shot from very close range went into the centre of the goal to give The O’s the lead after a good cross by Charlie Wellens a minute before the break.

In the second half Orient continued their offence and could have doubled their lead when Tom James right footed shot from the centre of the box was saved in the bottom right corner by Bass after an assist by O'Neill on 53 minutes.
The home side were now playing with confidence as they came forward again when Charlie Wellens right footed shot from outside the box was blocked after another assist by Ollie O'Neill on 71 minutes.
Ten minutes later the home side persistence finally paid off as Tyreeq Bakinson right footed shot from outside the box went into the high centre of the goal after being set up by Theo Archibald following a fast break.
But Orient’s 2-0 lead did not last long as Jimmy-Jay Morgan header from the centre of the box went into the top left corner following a good cross by Archie Collins to bring the visitors back into the game on 85 minutes.
But this turned out to be the last action of the game as orient shut up shop to hang on and pick up a vital three points.
