Richie Wellens believes he will have a tough job keeping hold of Dom Ballard at the end of the season as the inform striker is now becoming hot property.

Ballard scored a hattrick against Wimbledon AFC on Tuesday night to take his goal tally to 21 so far in league and the forward is now attracting attention from higher clubs.

Wellens is now hoping for the striker to produce the same performance against play off chasing Wycombe Wanderers at home this Saturday.

Orient are currently in fine form winning their last three league games and getting further away from the drop zone.

Speaking at his weekly pre-match press conference Wellens said: “I think they are a good club. They are very ambitious and want to on to bigger things. It doesn’t surprise me where they are in the league.

We asses every single game. I haven’t gone into detail with the players. When we are playing and winning, I just leave it. We can feel it. We can feel the mood around the club. I just don’t say anything and let the players continue performing well.

“I’m not too interested in position at the moment. We just need to focus. But it is good to see our players playing with confidence and moving into the right direction.

“Where will we be without Dom Ballard. He came from Cambridge Utd. His value is going up and up. He is generating more interest which not a surprise. We did a take chance on and he to advantage of the opportunity we have given him.”

Leyton Orient have won just one of their last seven league games against Wycombe Wanderers (D1 L5), though that sole victory came in this exact fixture last season with a 1-0 success.

Wycombe Wanderers have failed to win either of their last two away league games against Leyton Orient (D1 L1), failing to score in either match.

After beating Peterborough in their last home league game 2-1, Leyton Orient will be looking for successive wins at home for just the second time this season, previously doing so in October/November (run of three).
