FT Score- Leyton Orient-0-2-Rotherham Utd

Leyton Orient are still in relegation trouble after they fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to lowly Rotherham Utd in League One.

Orient conceded the first goal in the first half and the second after the break.

Orient head coach made only one change for Tuesday’s night draw with Mansfield Town. Tyreeq Bakinson retuned to the starting lineup, replacing Idris El Mizouni.

The home team got off to an encouraging start when top goal scorer Dom Ballard nearly scored when his header from the right side of the six-yard box was blocked after an assist by Demetri Mitchell on three minutes.

Moments later Rotherham Utd then had their chance on goal when Sam Nombe right footed shot from the left side of the box was just a bit too high on 14 minutes.

The away side were now dominating and took the lead when on loan striker Harry Gray’s right footed shot from outside the box went into the bottom right corner following an assist by Daniel Gore on 24 minutes.

This goal gave Orient a wakeup call as they got their act together and could have equalized when Sonny Perkins header from the right side of the six-yard box went close but misses to the right following a set piece cross by Tom James on 34 minutes.

Five minutes before the break Perkins had another chance to pull the game level for the home team but his right footed shot from the centre of the box went high and wide to the left of the goal.

Both teams struggled to create any chances in the first 15 minutes of the second half which resulted in Orient making three substitutions to help change the game.

This seemed to have an effect as Tom James nearly scored when his left footed shot from the right side of the box was blocked after an assist by Aaron Connolly on 64 minutes.

A minute later Orient again had another chance to equalize when Ballard’s left footed shot from the left side of the six-yard box was saved in the centre of the goal following an assist by Kaelan Casey.

Orient’s failure to take their chances came back to haunt them as Rotherham doubled their lead after Sam Nombe’s left footed shot from the centre of the box went into the to the bottom right corner following a good break on 73 minutes.

The Millers could have killed off the game when Nombe’s header from the centre of the box was saved in the top right corner by Will Dennis on 86 minutes.

The O’s did have one more chance to get back into game when Aaron Connolly’s right footed shot from outside the box went high and wide to the right in injury time.

Defeat for the O’s means they are only three points above the drop zone with only two league games left to play.
