WOODFORD WELLS cricket club was the scene of an historic league and cup double, last weekend.
The venue in Monkhams Lane saw Asian Cricket and Sports CC win the Lords International Essex League Cup.
Asians CC beat Cosmopolitan CC by 65 runs, to combine the title with their recent league championship win.
A total of 217 from 40 overs proved to be a solid foundation for the side based at Lowell Farm, in Walthamstow.
Cosmo CC were in the game with 20 overs gone, but steady bowling soon sent the wickets tumbling.
Asians CC were almost thwarted by a lower order stand from Ricky St Omer, who smashed several big shots on his way to a quick-fire 50.
But there was no defeat snatched from the jaws of victory, as Asians CC dismissed Cosmo CC for 152, all out.
Proud Nadim Ishaq, of Asians CC, said: “This is a first for the club.”
