DAGENHAM & Redbridge enter a critical period in their maiden campaign in League One this coming week, with the chance to pick up six valuable points in front of their fans at Victoria Road.

The Daggers have plummeted to the foot of the table after four successive defeats on the road, the latest of which arrived at fellow newbies Bournemouth on Saturday.

John Still's men have yet to muster a goal away from home, although that run of losses has included trips to promotion favourites Charlton Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday.

The manager will not be too disheartened by the team's poor form, given that just two matches have taken place on home turf. A total of four points from those games, against Leyton Orient and Tranmere, represents a good return, and it is surely at the London Borough of Redbridge Stadium where the Daggers will look to pick most of their points as they bid to beat the drop this season.

First up on Saturday is Bristol Rovers, who have made a turbulent start to the campaign.

Dagenham will be keen to plunder three points from the Pirates, who have developed something of a leaky ship in recent matches; they conceded 16 goals from their first five games of the season.

It is a game Still will view as a must-win, as the target for the Daggers will surely be to beat the teams in and around them near the foot of the table if they are to keep their heads above water.

That match is closely followed by the rescheduled home clash against Exeter City on Tuesday. The original fixture was postponed following the tragic death of Grecians' player Adam Stansfield.

One of the favourites for relegation, Exeter are a team that will have been targeted by Still as an imperative home three-pointer, although they have made a solid start to the season, sitting comfortably in mid-table.
