Upper Clapton Rugby Club in Epping welcomed over 180 children last week to their Schools Tag Tournament.

Year Six pupils from schools in Epping, Harlow and Ongar competed in the event, with 16 teams represented in four pools of four.

With the boys and girls playing some fantastic tag rugby, there were four awards to play for, meaning every team played a semi-final.

Church Langley Stars were victorious in the Cup, beating St Andrews 8-4, while there was defeat for Church Langley Spots in the Plate competition as they lost out to Longwood 6-3.

Ivy Chimneys picked up the Bowl after their 5-2 success over Purford Spots while Chipping Ongar claimed the Fair Play award after beating Epping Primary 7-4.

Upper Clapton wanted to extend a big thank you to all of the volunteers and coaches for making the event possible, with its success attributed to the hard work of those who visited the schools to coach.

The club are looking forward to welcoming the schools back for next year’s tournament.

If you are interested in playing rugby, the club welcome new players. For more information, visit www.upperclapton.com or telephone Owen Coyne on 07766 202338.
