Woodford Green AC with Essex Ladies women’s team suffered relegation from the Premier Division after finishing second bottom in the final UK Women's League fixture of the season.
With many of the club’s athletes either injured or unavailable, Woodford were unable to muster a strong enough team and, despite the efforts and team spirit shown by those athletes in attendance, they finished in seventh place.
Their final score of 145.5 points wasn’t enough and they joined Enfield in exiting the division.
Individually, there was a strong performance from Tara Bird as she claimed victory in both the 400m and 1500m. Bird comfortably won the A 400m by recording 54.47 before taking top spot in the 1500m with a personal best of 4.29.07.
The B 400m brought victory for Jo Ryan as she clocked 56.71, while Zoe Watson was sixth in the 400m hurdles with 1.19.50.
Bernadine Year answered the call to try to stave of relegation and, despite not being fully fit, she finished seventh in the 1500m with 5.18.16.
In the women's B 100m hurdles, Moe Sasegbon stepped in and placed fifth with 15.57 after coming home third in her speciality, the high jump, with 1.70m.
The A hammer saw Lucy Marshall come home third with 55.23m, and then pick up points with seventh in the shot with 11.20m.
Ayamba Akim was second in the B high jump with 1.65m and in the B long jump Hannah Frankson took third with 5.55m.
Frankson then went onto win the B triple jump with 12.65 while Stephanie Aneto finished in third place in a very close A competition with 12.72m.
Elsewhere, a depleted Woodford Green men’s team took fourth in the third fixture of the British Athletics League Premiership.
Woodford were led by A string wins for both Mark Dry and Sam Watt in the hammer and 200m respectively.
Dry, who was very unlucky not to be selected as Britain's sole hammer competitor at the London 2012 Olympic Games, produced a solid series as he won with 71.56m.
Backing him up in the B event was veteran Fergus Harford who finished fourth with 35.61m.
Watts’ time of 21.08 in the 200m was enough to take top spot and he was also in action in the 100m and took sixth in 10.90. In the B 200m there was also a good win, from the inside lane, from Jordan Kirby-Polidore who recorded 21.51 having also won the B 100m with 10.64 The 400m saw Graham Hedman third in a good quality race with 46.98.
The middle distance races, Oli Heeks came home fifth in the A 800m in 1.52.29, while in the B equivalent 17-year-old Matt McLaughlin placed 3rd in 1.53.63 .
The 1500m saw Alex Cornwell stop the clock in 3.54.18 for fourth place and Tom Phillips took first with 3.57.58 in the B race.
Tomas Pilbersek won the B 3000m in 9.28.58 while Mike Baker was fourth in the A 400m hurdles, stopping the clock on 52.78.
