ORIENT'S FA Cup dreams were kept alive by a 76th minute equaliser from Wayne Corden, to earn a replay against League Two strugglers Torquay.
The Gulls, under the guidance of new manager Lubos Kubik, had taken the lead on the hour mark.
O's sub Brian Saah was harshly ruled to have fouled Jamie Ward in the area and the same man dusted himself off to fire the resulting spot kick past Glyn Garner in the east Londoners' goal.
Martin Ling's men showed character and with just 14 minutes left on the clock Corden latched onto Shane Tudor's crossfield ball, before cutting in from the left and firing past former O's loanee Nathan Abbey from 15-yards.
Now with their tails up it was the visitors, who went the closest to winning it before full time with Jason Demetriou being denied by Abbey and sub Paul Connor having three good chances to come up with a winner in the final ten minutes, the best of which came 60 seconds from time when he headed just wide from Corden's cross.
Ling said: "I'm pleased to come away with a replay, because we didn't play for an hour."
l That replay will come on Tuesday night at Brisbane Road, with the winners facing a home game with Championship outfit Southampton in the third round on the weekend of January 6.
