After watching Leyton Orient come unstuck against league leaders Bristol City, it was off to London Road to hopefully get our recent run of results back on track as we fight to stay in League One.

Peterborough has been a happy hunting ground in recent seasons so I was making the short journey with hope that we could take something from the game.

The game of football (Hoofball would be more appropriate) flew by with both teams being equally as bad as each other but with our typical luck this season, we lost the game to a wind-assisted goal (without the terrible pun) that lofted over loan keeper Alex Cisak’s head.

From where I was standing in the ground you couldn’t even tell it had gone in until you heard the Peterborough fans break into song. No seats were harmed in the away end although I was almost tempted to try and take one home with me.

The worst thing about the afternoon was Romain Vincelot leaving the field of play on a stretcher. It has been confirmed that he will miss the remainder of the season so wishing a speedy recovery for Romain and I shall not be shaving my beard until you grace our hollowed turf again.

So back-to-back defeat’s albeit against tough opposition leaves us languishing in the bottom four of League One and I’m not going to lie I’ve stopped looking at the league table because it just depresses me. Just think where we were last season!

Our next two fixtures are home games against fellow strugglers Yeovil and recent table climbers Barnsley, who, since young manager Lee Johnson took over he has taken them to within goal difference of the playoffs…What difference a new manager CAN make.

So on average 52 points is the amount required for league survival but it may be less this season. Eleven games remain with six home games and five away from Brisbane Road. I’ve hand picked three games that could define our season (Coventry away, Yeovil Home, Crawley Away). Three-cup finals you might say.

I do personally think the new owner deserves time to turn things around and I have no doubt that Francesco Becchetti can and will succeed given he learns from the mistakes that have been made this season.

Communication with the fans is still not what it should be and I hope things are put in place for this to be improved in the coming months.

The O's have some season defining matches coming up and I think it’s integral that fans get behind the team and give the players that extra boost of belief and confidence especially at home because if we are to stay up we will have to put a run of wins together, no doubt about that.

I’ve been having the same dream the past few nights. It’s one where Gianvito Plasmati somehow managed to get all 6ft 6in of himself onto a cross to score a 90th minute winner against Swindon Town on the final day of the season. Stranger things have happened at Orient this campaign.
