Leyton Orient boss Alberto Cavasin admitted he thought taking off Nigel Atangana was the right decision to make in the second half as his side lost 2-0 to Crewe Alexandra.

Goals from George Cooper and Harry Davis were enough for the Railwaymen to win their first match in seven in League Two as they pounced on defensive errors.

Atangana was awarded man of the match and the O’s fans were livid at the 27-year-old being substituted for striker Jay Simpson.

Cavasin added: “I thought they were all playing more or less the same so I could have taken off Robbie Weir or Nigel Atangana but in the end I chose to take out Atangana this time.

“We started the first 20 minutes well as we played the ball and we had the situation in our hands.

“But we did not create good chances and then we conceded the goal so we had to go back into our positions on the pitch.

“It was too easy for them to score and it is going to be our duty to work out this situation and to not let this happen again.”

Orient now sit in the bottom two after Wycombe Wonderers drew 2-2 with Doncaster Rovers and Barnet beat Hartlepool United 3-2.

“My worries have not changed since the beginning of my adventure here. The results have not changed,” said the 60-year-old Italian.

“We need to just keep at it and improve. I could say there have been many improvements but you can have good results by not even improving at all that is the difference.

“It is not about how many improvements the team does it is, it is the fact about how we can work as a team and not concede so easily."

The fans were visibly restless at full-time as 'Becchetti out' and 'this is embarrassing' sounded out around the Matchroom Stadium.

Cavasin said: “The supporters obviously want their team to win and they want them to play good football and today this only happened for twenty minutes.

“This is normal. This is just everyone being a part of the team and the reaction to disappointing results because it is two months that the team continue to lose.”

The O’s will remain 23rd in the table until Saturday, November 12 when they take on Colchester United away.

Orient play Sheffield United next Sunday at Bramall Lane with a 2pm kick off.
