Justin Edinburgh says the club will assess the injury sustained by Jamie Turley in last night’s win over AFC Fylde.

Turley limped from the pitch after 37 minutes after going to ground under no real contact and was replaced by James Dayton, which saw James Brophy moved to right-wingback.

“It’s put a tinge of disappointment in the result tonight,” Edinburgh said after the game. “He just lost his footing and overstretched so we’re hopeful that it’s nothing too sinister and it’s not serious.

“It’s just at the top of his hamstring. We’re hoping it’s not too serious and we’ll get it scanned in the morning and find out.”

Josh Koroma made his second consecutive start in the match last night having recently returned from the treatment room, and Edinburgh said that his substitution after 61 minutes was about managing his playing time rather than a reoccurrence of the injury.

He said: “We had to be mindful with Josh. We’re nursing him back and it’s another good 60, 65 minutes in him. We had that in mind, we knew that we weren’t going to get 90 out him quite yet and we have to be mindful that now we’ve got him back we keep him back.”

The injury to Turley meant that Brophy had to be switched to the right-wingback position, not only the wrong side for a left-footed player, but also much deeper than he is used to playing, and although it does leave the O’s short in that area on paper, the boss feels there are good options for that spot.

When asked if it was an area that Alex Lawless could fill in, he said: “Alex could do it, Craig Clay can do it, Brophy has shown tonight that he can do it and Sam Ling is only about a week away as well. It’s not a concern really.

“We’ve got Jay [Simpson] back as well now and I’m absolutely delighted to have a player of that calibre and class sitting on our bench and ready to go.”
