AFTER coming up with the match-winner against Oldham on Saturday, defender Charlie Daniels is now looking forward to his first taste of FA Cup action this weekend.

The on-loan Spurs man, who is currently enjoying a run in the team, blasted in an eighth-minute screamer against the Latics and is now hoping to help the O's see off Bristol Rovers in a competition he has yet to feature in.

He said: "I was really pleased to get the goal against Oldham on Saturday and I was happy with the strike itself.

"It was a good move because I played the ball into Jason Demetriou, who knocked a great pass up the pitch to Jabo Ibehre and he flicked it on and fortunately I was there to smash it home.

"I'm really enjoying being in the team at the moment and while I'm playing at left-back the gaffer does encourage the defenders, if they have the opportunity, to get forward.

"That is the thing about this team, because we've got some good players who can play in several positions and who can drop in at the back if people like myself or Stephen Purches, Alton Thelwell and Tamika Mkandawire get forward.

"Hopefully now I can keep my place in the team and I'm really looking forward to playing Bristol Rovers on Saturday in the FA Cup.

"I've never played in the competition before, although like any kid growing up I always dreamed about winning it.

"It would be a great honour though to just play in the FA Cup and while our main aim this year has got to be the league we are still looking for a good run in the Cup as well."

Daniels arrived as a second-half substitute in the O's excellent 3-2 comeback at the Memorial Ground in September as they recovered from going 2-0 down against The Gas.

And he would certainly love a repeat of that result.

He added: "It would be nice to beat them again, although hopefully this time we won't start so slowly.

"At the time it was great to come on and help us comeback though and I'm sure we would all love a repeat of that result."
