The visit of Sheffield United should provide the O’s with one of their biggest challenges of the season so far.
On paper, the Blades are one of the best teams in League One, and their present position in the table - as well as the tag of one of the favourites for promotion - supports the view.
A neutral might take one look at the league table and dismiss this as a no-brainer – an away win.
The odds are not entirely stacked against Russell Slade’s side however.
A quick glance at the form table will show that Orient make for tough opposition at the moment. The horrendous run of defeats now seems a distant memory after a run which has yielded ten points from a possible 12 – form which has seen the O’s take maximum points from their last three outings.
The Blades’ form makes for slightly less impressive reading, although Wednesday night’s victory at Preston will have given Danny Wilson’s side a boost.
Their last five fixtures have seen them claim two wins, two defeats and a draw. Hardly terrible, but not something to fear.
Perhaps most important of all though is that Orient have seen their injury list substantially shortened.
Ben Chorley was expected back in training this week. George Porter returned against Bury. Jamie Cureton, Elliot Omozusi and Charlie Daniels have all been available for selection for a couple of weeks now and will only get stronger with more game time.
Saturday’s opponents should not be dismissed lightly but neither should Orient who have played well of late. A fourth consecutive win might be an ask too far against the Blades but I’m going to predict a draw for tomorrow.
