Third XI Premier Division

Wanstead & Snaresbrook Thirds are top of the league after thrashing mid-table Woodford Wells Thirds.

Wells decided to bat but posted a meagre 74. It could have been worse had the tail not added 37 for the last three wickets.

Wanstead’s Mehan Khan (four for seven) was the pick of the attack, while Hamza Shoaib and Jahanser Akbar took three wickets each.

It only took one wicket and just over 20 overs for Wanstead to seal the win. Feroze Khushi was left unbeaten on 33.

Wanstead are away to Shenfield Thirds on Saturday, while Wells play Hutton Thirds at home.

South Woodford Thirds were unable to secure victory over Shenfield Thirds despite a fine century from Chris Wong.

Wong hit 121 for South Woodford and not far behind was fellow opener Robert Lancaster, who was caught five short of his ton on 95.

It meant Woodford made a strong total of 271 for four but they were less clinical in the field and Shenfield held on for a draw, finishing on 183 for eight.

Alfie Madden and Wong took three wickets each.

South Woodford are away to Ilford Thirds on Saturday.

Fives & Heronians Thirds lost to Ilford Thirds by 34 runs.

Batting first, Ilford posted 239 despite Fives’ Wang Jing taking five for 54.

In reply, Fives started poorly but recovered well in the middle order as Jing continued his successful afternoon, hitting 74.

It wasn’t enough for Fives though who were bowled out for 205.

Fives are away on Saturday at Upminster Thirds.

Third XI Division One

Buckhurst Hill Thirds’ unbeaten record is still intact but there was no win for the league leaders at home to Gidea Park & Romford Thirds.

The visitors put on 290 for eight with Buckhurst’s Mohammed Ali taking five for 63.

In reply Buckhurst finished on 220 for four from 35 overs with neither side able to claim any significant advantage. Daniel Parkinson remained unbeaten on 76.

Buckhurst are at home to Shenfield on Saturday.

Wanstead & Snaresbrook Fourths were unable to close the gap on Buckhurst Hill as they suffered a surprise defeat to Chingford Thirds.

Wanstead’s Giri Rathakrishnan (65) helped his side to 215 all out after Chingford’s Nadir Noori (five for 73) had inflicted damage early on.

A bad start in reply was stabilised by Chingford’s John Woodland, who scored a composed 89 not out and along with Paul Warren (42), guided the hosts to a fine win.

Wanstead are at home to Harold Wood Thirds on Saturday. Chingford are away to Brentwood Thirds.

Third XI Division Two

West Essex Thirds earned an encouraging draw against Billericay Thirds.

Billericay batted first and posted 266 after a dominant batting performance.

West Essex were not fazed however and came closer to victory than defeat, finishing just six runs short of the win with three wickets to spare.

West Essex host Orsett Thirds on Saturday.

A disappointing batting display consigned Loughton Thirds to a five-wicket defeat at home to Colchester & East Essex Thirds.

Loughton won the toss and chose to bat but were bowled out for just 141.

Liam Watson did his best to peg back Colchester with three for 40 but it was a thankless task and the visitors won with five wickets in hand.

Loughton Thirds are away to Harlow Thirds on Saturday.

Third XI Division Three

Second-placed Loughton Fourths kept the pressure on at the top with an emphatic win over Leigh On Sea.

Riki Laird’s superb 103 was the stand-out innings but there were also excellent performances from Dominic Sweeting (53), Niketh Shetty (50) and Hammad Malik (65) as Loughton posted 297.

Leigh On Sea made a dismal attempt at reaching their target and were bowled out for just 74, leaving them 223 runs short.

On Saturday Loughton are at home to Harlow Town Thirds.

South Woodford Fourths didn’t do Loughton any favours as they lost to league-leaders Wickford Fourths.

South Woodford set a reasonable score of 222 all out but Wickford cruised home for the loss of just one wicket.

South Woodford Fourths will look to bounce back at home on Saturday to Benfleet Thirds.
